The PlayStation 3 moved through a period of change.

Systems became more connected. Digital features expanded. Games grew in scale, but also in structure — blending what came before with what was still taking shape.

It didn’t settle into one direction.

Some experiences leaned into cinematic design. Others held onto earlier foundations. Across it all, there was a shift happening — toward online integration, downloadable content, and a broader ecosystem surrounding the games themselves.

It was a bridge.

Not everything was fully realized, but the direction was clear. What followed would refine it, simplify it, and carry it forward.

The PlayStation 3 didn’t define a final form.
It helped move toward one.
